Prologue

While morality was the endeavor of enlightenment and compassion; survival was the pursuit of knowledge and brutal perseverance, and science fueled the eternal battle between them. 

Chp 1

Yet this desperate dream rang in her head too loudly to be drowned out by logic or fear.

Chp 3

She was broken. She didn’t know how broken until this moment. She thought she had remained above the fray, not like the other dailys dragging through each day. The revelation was the first sign that she belonged here; she was one of them and woefully aware of the irony.

Maybe we move that line to fit our desires. Desires that bind us to a result avoiding loss and failure at all costs. We can’t see it when we are faced with the hard reality of it. We lose sight of what goodness is, what evil is, and we surrender to it.”

Chp 11

He watched her as she looked at the stars while acting out her animated rendition, but he was distracted by the few buttons on her sweater that were threatening to come undone.

A cover story, she thought. It sounds so much nicer than a lie, but man, how they are piling up.
