Since learning how to capture words on paper, I have loved writing. I love the power of it, the art of it, and the self-reflection it teases out. Like many artists, I struggle to get noticed. Though the business side is a briar patch, I have learned much since I began my writing journey.
When publishing a book, one has three choices: traditional, hybrid, or self publishing. Traditional is sought after by most writers because you get a cash advance and a team to handle much of the business side. It requires writing a plethora of query letters to find an agent, who then must then find a publisher. It can be a long process while your book is in hiatus makes zero.
Hybrid publishing is a service you pay for. It takes your book through the publishing process and places it on various sales platforms. Placing them there does not by any means sell them. You still have to do that yourself. I published my first book, Sins of Survival with a hybrid. I learned a lot about the process and the industry, but it was expensive.
The third choice is self-publishing. I self-publish now, but wearing every hat makes for a tough learning curve.
Though I have sold more than the average indie writer, but I am not even close to breaking even. 95% of authors make below the poverty level. Most rely on additional employment to support their “hobby”.
Authors swim in waters infested with promo sharks and other authors all hungry.
I swim cautiously and sharpen my teeth. I believe in my products, and I improve with each one. I know it seems daunting, and you may wonder why I continue. It is a privilege to share my words.
Truth be told, I love writing more than ever.
A fantasy of witches and wizards.

I like to give new and local artists a shot at getting their work out there. The cover for my first book, Sins of Survival cover was painted by Bella Leonard, the daughter of. Childhood friends. The book covers for Somewhere Else and Reclamation were painted by Ashleigh Ward. Lion's Creed, New Haven, and Journey to Cali Bantu were graphically designed by RG Graph X Designs.

I am enjoying writing, and it seems like just yesterday I was releasing my first book. My friends and family were so excited, but my granddaughter, a middle school student told me she was disappointed that due to its content, she would have to wait to read it. It made me think, with all my professional experience with this age group, I should write a series appropriate for all readers.
The Highmind series is connected to the setting and characters in the From Darkness series, but it is from the viewpoint of a young boy with special abilities.
It is appropriate for audiences and leveled for readers twelve and older.
